FAQs

How long are therapy sessions?

Therapy sessions are 50 minutes. If we are using a more intensive modality like EMDR or IFS to process trauma, it could be possible to schedule a 90 minute session if we determine together that would be helpful.

What should I expect in the first session or two?

Typically we’ll spend the first few sessions getting to know one another. During this time I’ll be learning more about your story and what brings you to therapy. We’ll also use this time to determine if I feel like the right fit for you and to ensure that I have the proper expertise to best support your needs.

How does teletherapy work?

I use a HIPAA-compliant platform called Simple Practice. Once we schedule a session, I’ll email you a link to your client portal where you can complete all new client paperwork. You’ll also be emailed links to our video sessions the day of our session.

Insurance

I am an out-of network provider (OON).

Counseling services are often reimbursed if out-of-network insurance coverage exists.  A detailed receipt for services rendered will be provided should you choose to seek personal reimbursement from your insurance company.

If you would like to use your insurance benefits in any capacity, it is best to call your insurance company directly.  The following questions will help guide you in determining your financial commitment:

  • Do I have mental health benefits? If so what are they?

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits?  If so, may I submit receipts for personal reimbursement

  • Do I have a deductible?

  • Is there a set number of allowed sessions per calendar year?

  • Does the reimbursement percentage rate shift at any point?

  • What is the usual and customary rate that your percentage is based on for 90834 and 90837 billing codes?

Forms of payment accepted

I accept cash, check, credit cards, and flexible spending accounts.
